before and after: painted knobs

In our bedroom we have this armoire and two nightstands. My parents got them for us as a gift and they work great in the space. I haven’t been real thrilled with the knobs though so I decided to spray paint them, what a difference it made!!! They were’t bad before but I like them better with more contrast.

Before shots…

When I took the knobs off they were in two pieces, no big deal though!

I left the screws in so we could open and close the drawers for a couple days without the hardware.

I used oil rubbed bronze spray paint from Meijers and primer (which I also used on my lamps) from Home Depot.

One coat of primer…

Two coats of paint! Easy peasy!

After…

I like the darker look but could really do any color. Bright green? Gold? This is how you can create custom touches for little moola!

I hope you guys have a great weekend. Hubby is at school so I will be making the boys and I busy with projects, a birthday party, and hot yoga for me!

Deal of the Week

Do you like finding a good price on furniture and accessories for your home? If you’re willing to hunt a little you can find amazing deals on items that fit your personality at most second had stores!

I have purchased some pieces over the years from Second Time Around, a retail and furniture consignment shop in Grand Rapids, MI. I stopped by there recently and here are a few items that stuck out!

These lockers were $69 dollars a piece! Whoa! Major deal compared to $200 something at Target! Spray paint them, distress them or add locker baskets to the tops… Here are some quick ideas!

boys room

Distressed looks really cool!

Vintage locker basket… Find them new OR used!

I also spotted this really cool chair, I would love to see a bright pillow on it mixed in with a couple vintage pieces! This is actually a knock off of a T Vac Design, sold on Design Within Reach for $375, at Second Time Around it was $79!!!!

Striking in the garden!

…or dining for two!

Then I saw this really simple tan couch. Second Time Around has a partnership with Cort Furniture which is where this sofa came from. Cort leases furniture to showrooms or model houses for staging so the pieces barely get used! STA has a lot of Cort on their floor.. This was priced at $399!

And yeah… What CAN’T you do with a neutral sofa!!! Tan and white…

Tan, gray, and cream… I like the extra large ottoman in front and black pillow!

With a neutral couch you could change out your accent color every season!!

This changing table dresser and hutch was on major markdown, just above $100… The finish was perfectly fine but you could kick it up a notch paint it and put funky knobs on it!

Put a knob on it!

distressed

pattern!

Little lamb knobs for that precious babe!

I love this green, really cant get enough of this color!!

Act fast when looking at second hand furniture, it might not be there when you come back! Like all these pieces I featured! Happy hunting!
